Józef Marian Chełmoński was born in the village of Boczki, near Lowicz, Poland in 1849. Chelmonski is a Polish artist in the realist school art and his work is often referred to as Polish Patriotic Painting. He produced dozens of beautiful paintings and illustrations during his life but his most famous works are probably: Indian Summer, Partridges on the snow, Czwórka (Four), The storks, and Before a thunderstorm. He died in 1914 in Kuklowka, Minsk Mazowieckia.

Wladyslaw Luszczkiewicz (1828 – 1900) was a Polish historical painter, active during the partitions of Poland. He was a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, where one of his many students was Jan Matejko.

Kazimierz Alchimowicz (1840 – 1916) was a Lithuanian-born Polish romantic painter. Perhaps his most known work is a series of twelve tablets (entitled Goplana) based on the Polish historical poem Pan Tadeusz by Adam Mickiewicz.

Aleksander Sochaczewski (1843—1923) was a Polish painter who participated in the Polish January Uprising against the Russian Empire in 1863. He was then exiled to Siberia. He is probably best known for his paintings of the uprising and his exile in Siberia.

Teodor Axentowicz (1859–1938) was a Polish-Armenian painter and university professor. In 1923, he was awarded the Commander’s Cross with Star of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland.
