A recently unearthed photograph dating back to the early 1920s. This looks to be a group of scouts somewhere in Poland but is unfortunately unlabelled.
Three things you may not know about scouting in Poland:
- Andzrej Malkowski founded Polish scouting in 1910 after translating Baden-Powell’s Scouting for Boys and forming the first Scout unit.
- The largest Scouting organization in Poland – Zwiazek Harcerstwa Polskiego / ZHP – was founded in 1918.
- Many Scouts participated in the fighting during the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944.
