Mehrenthin / Mierzęcin

Mierzęcin (former: Mehrenthin) is a village in the Strzelce Krajeńskie (Friedeberg) / Dobiegniew (Woldenberg) area of Lubuskie in the west of Poland.

Here are some pre-war images of the rather grand manor house (schloss / pałac) in Mierzecin. It was built in 1861-63 in a Neo-Gothic style and is surrounded by a 19th century landscaped park.

Prior to the end of the Second World War the estate and manor belonged to the von Waldow family. After the war became the house and land became state property and over much of the communist era served as an educational centre. However, it is now in private ownership and been fully restored and is used as a hotel, spa, and conference centre.

The village of Mierzecin also boasts a rather fine church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary dating back to 1715.
