Rafał Malczewski was born in Kraków, Poland, in 1892. He lived for many years in Zakopane and was closely associated with other artists like Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz and Karol Szymanowski. He was a prolific artist mostly working in the school of ‘naive realism’. At the start of the Second World War he emmigrated first to France and then to Canada where he continued to paint. He died in 1965 in Montreal, Canada.

Henryk Siemiradzki (1843 – 1902) was a Polish 19th-century painter probably best known for his scene from antiquity. He also painted pastoral scenes, biblical and historical scenes, landscapes, and portraits.

Józef Marian Chełmoński was born in the village of Boczki, near Lowicz, Poland in 1849. Chelmonski is a Polish artist in the realist school art and his work is often referred to as Polish Patriotic Painting. He produced dozens of beautiful paintings and illustrations during his life but his most famous works are probably: Indian Summer, Partridges on the snow, Czwórka (Four), The storks, and Before a thunderstorm. He died in 1914 in Kuklowka, Minsk Mazowieckia.

Kazimierz Alchimowicz (1840 – 1916) was a Lithuanian-born Polish romantic painter. Perhaps his most known work is a series of twelve tablets (entitled Goplana) based on the Polish historical poem Pan Tadeusz by Adam Mickiewicz.
